The Knife Inside Us All
Updated: Dec 19, 2018
What is that?
that twing,
deep inside my chest?
my lungs won’t fill,
my eyes won’t stop.
my hands are cold,
my legs are locked.
what is that?
a ghost moving through my blood;
it hurts,
haunts.
Never leaving my thoughts.
in a quiet room -
I hear it ring,
singing it’s song.
in its unwelcome place,
it’s beginning to belong.
Be long -
Endure,
Stay,
No cure.
What is that?
pain?
Anger,
Fear?
It’s unclear -
Formless,
Changing & true.
What is inside me, is surely in you.
Where did it come from?
Where does it go?
How can I remove it?
And how will I know?
trapping faceless feelings
when the twing is stinging strong,
how long?
until it surfaces & freezes my peace.
Icing it over,
enslaving it from release.
My breath,
My chest.
My eyes,
My legs.
I want them back,
I beg.
