In high school, there was ample opportunity to compete with my photography & writing. I always took the chance - and was awarded several honorable mentions, finalists, and 1st place positions!

December 31, 2009
A specialized competition focusing on what "Beauty is" - I entered both poetry & photography pieces, and received an honorable mention for poetry.

April 29, 2011
I was awarded the visual artist achievement out of my class for the year of 2011!

Gold Key Recipient
May 01, 2011
I entered the National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition with low expectations, since I had only ever participated in local contests - but was pleasantly surprised when I won a Gold Key. In this competition, that is a high honor! I was awarded for photography, although I entered both writing & photography pieces.

Photography Exhibit
March 20, 2012
I entered the Youth Arts Exhibition & Competition of 2012 with the piece seen behind me. I was awarded participation & a personal space to exhibit my work. I regrettably do not have the physical award anymore, but have this photo-keepsake of my sister and I looking at each other, much like the photograph behind us. She was the model for this image!
National Photography Finalist
April 15, 2012
Hosted by St. Marys College of California - the River of Words competition focused on environmental literacy & appreciation.
I entered several photographic & poetry pieces and was notarized as a finalist in this national contest!
The award ceremony was held at the Chattahoochee Nature Center - the same place this photo was taken!
Speaker on Millennial Panel for Sustainability
May 09, 2014
I was invited to speak - along with other peers - to represent the millennial voice in the realm of sustainability. This discussion was hosted by Kennesaw State, and funded by Coca-Cola in ATL for their 2014 Sustainability Summit.
After the panel, we went to the KSU Hickory Grove Farm and planted trees, painted rain barrels, and sowed seeds - all donated by Coca Cola. To read some coverage on the event, see the link below.
